Arsenic Speciation and Water Pollution Associated with Mining in the Coeur d'Alene Mining District, Idaho

摘要

An arsenic speciation technique has been used to analyze the ground water systems of a major lead-zinc mine in northern Idaho. The As(III)/As(V) ratio shows a strong correlation with the quality of the mine waters studied, suggesting that it may be used as a chemical indicator for evaluating water pollution problems associated with mine wastes in the area.
