摘要

The report reviews the history of and evaluates the significance of a group of 1930's buildings currently known as the Quincy Work Center, as well as the site upon which it is located. This center--located in the northern Sierra Nevada near Quincy, California--has, since the establishment of Plumas National Forest in 1905, served a number of functions. Two of these functions were especially important. These were, first of all, a Forest Service Forest Experiment Station for most of the period 1912-1954. Secondly, it was the main training ground for Forest Service staff officers from 1925-1954. The buildings currently on the site date to the Depression years of the 1930's when the Civilian Conservation Corps--operating from a nearby camp--constructed this complement of buildings. This report recommends this site for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
