Department of Commerce's Second-Year Efforts to Implement the Federal Managers' Financial Integrity Act

GAO reviewed 23 federal agencies' efforts to implement the Federal Manager's Financial Integrity Act of 1982. The act was intended to help reduce fraud, waste, and abuse across the spectrum of federal government operations through annual agency self-assessments of internal controls and accounting systems. The report discusses problems encountered and progress made by the Department of Commerce in its second year of implementing the act.
