The Summary of Deposits file contains selected deposits data for each FDIC-insured bank and branch in the United States. At one time, data were collected by deposit size, but that was discontinued in 1982. These files are available on a biennial basis from 1966 through 1972 and annually thereafter. Beginning in 1982, FDIC-insured mutual savings banks were included. Each record contains selected structural information such as office name and location, county, MSA, state code, Rand McNally area name, and bank holding company affiliation. Beginning in 1988, Rand McNally data and census data were no longer included on the file.
