Guidelines for Implementing Natural Resource Information Systems: The River Reach Fisheries Information System

The River Reach Fisheries Information System (RRFIS) is an automated computer system that organizes natural resource data. It has been designed to: (1) help monitor the condition of fisheries and aquatic habitat regionally and Nationally; and (2) serve as a site-specific fishery management tool. The RRFIS provides interactive data base management and geographic information system (GIS) capabilities that can be customized to each user's special needs. This report provides RRFIS users with a step-by-step guide to designing and implementing a RRFIS for their own resource needs. Applications of the RRFIS are also included. A glossary and appendix provide additional information.
