Georgia Freeway Signing Study Phase 2 Report. Problem Analysis and Recommendations for Improvements

The objective of this project was to evaluate freeway signs in Georgia and to recommend improvements where deficiencies are found. Although all types of signs were evaluated, the project concentrated on guide signing because there seemed to be more problems with guide signs. This study also evaluated Georgia Department of Transportation written sign policies. Some recommendations were made to expand the use of sequential signing, to use more consistent lane drop signing, and certain changes in legend and shield sizes.
