Innovations by Firm Size in Studies of the Bureau of Labor Statistics

The study complements the previous trade journal studies by identifying innovations embodied in studies of the employment impacts of technological change by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even though such investigations are by definition more concerned with larger groups of employees and thus more concerned with innovations affecting large firms, theinnovation rates per employee were not significantly different for large and small firms, notwithstanding that the calculations included the employment of all the firms that did not innovate in the industries in question.
