The report is concerned with out-of-pocket expenses for persons enrolled in the Medicaid program and for other poor persons who are not enrolled in Medicaid. Information is also presented for comparison purposes on all insurance coverage and income groups. The data contained in the report are from the National Medical Care Utilization and Expenditure Survey which provides data on the health care for the entire noninstitutionalized U.S. population in 1980.
