The report presents statistics on housing and household characteristics from the 1983 Annual Housing Survey conducted in 13 selected standard metropolitan statistical areas (SMSA's. The Annual Housing Survey (AHS) was designed to provide a current series of information on the size and composition of the housing inventory, the characteristics of its occupants, the changes in the inventory resulting from new construction and from losses, the indicators of housing and neighborhood quality, and the characteristics of recent movers.
