The report is Volume I of the documentation of a computer simulation model for surface mine reclamation planning. The volume deals with the development of a geological model for surface mine planning. The most common ore-body modeling techniques are described, and a brief review of geostatistical theory and concepts is presented. A geostatistical option for ore-body modeling is included along with computer programs and sample outputs.
