Parent Concerns and Advice: A Report on Interview Findings

Parents and caring relatives of family members with mental retardation have an important contribution to make in recommending improvements in the quality and continuity of services. Recognizing this, the Subcommittee on Family and Community Services of the President's Committee on Mental Retardation (PCMR) conducted a series of in-depth, unstructured interviews with parents across the country. The interviews were intended to provide a small cross sampling of parents and others with a forum for comment on the quality and continuity of services, and to raise concerns and make suggestions about areas for improvement.
