Information Technology Utilization in Emergency Management

摘要

The crucial role of information technologies--computers, telecommunications, multi-sensor collection systems, audio and video configurations--in anticipating or coping with emergency situations is a subject of heightened focus on the contemporary scene, both in the public and private sectors. Intensive efforts continue at all levels of governments to enhance the planning and response mechanisms which must be in place in order to deal with natural and man-caused disasters. The report features illustrative technology-supported systems which perform such functions within a context of key issues and recent initiatives to improve the national posture.
