Ground Subsidence and Structural Damage Over an Abandoned Room-and-Pillar Coal Mine at Hegeler, Illinois

The Bureau of Mines and the University of Illinois investigated surface characteristics and damage to structures from mine subsidence over a room-and-pillar coal mine in Hegeler IL. Data on three adjacent subsidence sags and associated structural damage were collected, summarized and evaluated.
