The manual serves as a handbook for preparing logs of tests pits and auger holes and contains the guides and references helpful in laboratory or visual classification of soil. The first section of this manual gives guidelines for preparing the written logs of test pits and auger holes for the soil classification system that went into effect in the Bureau of Reclamation on January 1, 1986.
