Cultural Resources Investigations in the Proposed Multi Purpose Range Complex Area, Fort Polk, Vernon Parish, Louisiana, Volume 1 and 2

As a result of investigations and excavations a total of 596 cultural occurrences were recorded, of which 335 represented newly discovered sites. The location of occurrences were examined in comparison to a previous site density model and several suggested changes were made in environmental stratification. The data has been analyzed to provide a tentative regional chronology for prehistoric occurrences and to evaluate the various other implications of chronological data. Historic remains were analyzed within schemes previously used at Fort Polk and the data were related to regional settlement.
