A feasibility study of the high-power, real-time performances of the three-probe microwave automatic impedance measuring system was conducted. Two sets of experiments were carried out: comparing the real-time measurements using the three-probe system to those using the HP 8410 network analyzer operated at low power levels (10 milliwatts); and using the three-probe system to measure a time-varying load at medium high power levels (from 2.5 watts to 20 watts, CW). The power levels are changed in steps and the results were compared with each other as well as compared with the low power measurements. The pictures recorded show that qualitatively the high-power, low-power traces are exactly the same while quantitatively, after normalization, the difference is within a few percents.
