Flume Tank as an Instrument in Selective Shrimp Trawl Development

The use of a flume tank facility in the development of selective shrimp trawls is described. Its advantages and disadvantages are compared with those of other possible trawl testing techniques and its ideal role discussed. Details are given of how a flume tank works, how to draw up a specification for a scale model trawl and the testing techniques recently used with new selective shrimp trawl designs.
