Water Supply and Sanitation in the Health Sector in the Asia Region: Information Needs and Program Priorities

摘要

The issues paper identifies and discusses concepts which are central in defining the appropriate role for water supply and sanitation services within the context of the health sector. The core of the paper is the development of a framework for identifying the portions of the overall costs of water supply and sanitation services. The framework is used to assess two major issues; namely, what are the information needs if rational policies are to be devised, and what appear to be the conditions under which investment of health-sector resources in water supply and sanitation projects may be appropriate.
