Mix Proportioning of Concrete Containing Fly Ash for Highway Applications

The need for more cost efficient construction materials for use in highway construction and the problem of waste disposal of fly ash have prompted the study reported herein. The study addresses the major concerns of resident highway engineers about concrete containing fly ash for highway applications, which include: curing conditions, strength development, durability, materials selection and mix proportioning. The report summarizes the proposed trial mix design procedure for concrete containing fly ash developed by the Texas State Department of Highways and Public Transportation.
