The following contract papers were prepared as an input to an ongoing Office of Technology Assessment project: Tropical Island ecosystems and protection technologies to sustain renewable resources in U.S.-affiliated islands; Case studies of the impacts of introduced animal species on renewable resources in the U.S.-affiliated islands; Cultural dimensions of resource definition and use in Micronesia; Implications of history and culture for sustaining development of renewable resources on U.S.-affiliated Pacific islands; The critical role of the U.S. Congress in fostering self-reliance in the freely associated states of Micronesia; Fiscal incentives, social support programs, the Caribbean Basin Initiative and the development of renewable resources in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands; Organizations dealing with renewable resource development and management in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
