The manual presented by the North Carolina Department of Environment, Health, and Natural Resources, addresses methods of reducing air, water and solid waste disposal problems caused by solvents in the furniture industry. Included within the manual are specific case studies, lists of sources, and lists of equipment suppliers. The following subject areas are included in the manual: (1) psychological, legal, and economic factors; (2) case studies which describe practices for reducing use or increasing solvent recycling, including 'Proper Spray Techniques', 'Coating Methods', 'Status of Ecologically Desirable Coatings', 'Good Housekeeping Procedures', and 'Waste Management Options'; (3) the application of North Carolina regulations for air quality, water quality and hazardous wastes to the furniture industry.
