摘要

XLOG, a BASIC computer program written primarily for use with portable, lap-top computers, was designed for field processing the locations of radio-tagged wildlife. It is tailored for the low-budget researcher to enhance acquisition of radio-tracking data without the customary tedious, intermediate tasks of handwriting field notes, plotting maps, and keypunching into a mainframe computer. XYLOG uses UTM (Universal Trasverse Mercator) coordinates for calculating telemetry intercepts from 2 to 10 receiver locations. Receiver locations and azimuths are graphically displayed and the confidence ellipse for each polygon can be calculated. Resulting location (mean) coordinates, animal identification, time, date, and activity status are stored and formatted for uploading to a tape cassette, portable disk, or microframe or mainframe computer.
