Historical Development of Tight Formation Gas

GRI supported the development of a tight gas production database to update the 1980 National Petroleum Council (NPC) estimates of the unproven recoverable resource base and proven tight gas reserves, and to assess the historical development of this resource and its implications for future recovery. A key implication derived from this study is that tight formation gas is a large and integral part of the already discovered low-48 gas reserve base in many regions rather than a primarily separate source of supply.
