JTECH (Japanese Technology Evaluation Program) Panel Report on Telecommunications Technology in Japan

摘要

The purpose of the report is to review Japanese basic research, advanced development, and product development in telecommunication in order to assess the relative statuses of the U.S. and Japan in the critical area of international trade competition. Topics covered include: (1) the overall structure of the Japanese telecommunications industry and the forces that are shaping its development; (2) an examination of technological issues of telecommunication network development in Japan; (3) a description of subsystems within the network such as Japanese work on embedded subsystems (e.g., switches) and terminal equipment (e.g., PBXs); (4) a look at mobile radio subsystems (cellular radio, paging, etc.); and (5) a detailed study of Japanese telecommunication components.
