The manual describes the use of two computer programs developed to predict the behavior of vertically loaded piles using cone penetrometer test data. The first program, PILECPT1, uses the method presented by Bustamante and Gianeselli (1981) to predict ultimate load versus depth for up to four pile sizes. The second program, PILECPT2, combines the L.P.C. method for ultimate load with a method by Verbrugge 1981 for predicting the load transfer characteristics of the soil to obtain the load-settlement curve for a vertically loaded pile. Chapters 2 and 3 present the details of these two methods.
