Oxon Hill Manor Archaeological Site Mitigation Project, I-95/MD 210/I-295. Volume 1

Exhaustive historical research was conducted at all repositories in Maryland which could conceivably have had archival resources bearing on the Oxon Hill site. The fieldwork consisted of excavations. Major features included two wells and two cellars. Laboratory analysis included a computerized database of all artifacts, and extensive manipulation of this large database to develop artifact patterns and distributions. Other databases were developed for minimum vessel and crossmend analyses. This project was perhaps the largest of its kind ever conducted in the State of Maryland. As such, the completeness of the historical, field, and laboratory research should be of significant use to future researchers at plantation sites in the region.
