Medical Manuscripts of Averroes at El-Escorial

In 1978 ALESCO (the Egyptian Organization of Education, Culture, and Science) decided to hold an international, congress to commemorate the eighth centenary of the great Arab philospher Averroes. Specialists from various countries were invited to present studies that would emphasize the diverse aspects of his personality. Accordingly, the Organizing Committee asked that a complete bibiography of the works of Averroes be prepared. Fr. G.C. Anawati was chosen to accomplish this task, since in 1950 he had compiled and published a similar bibliography of the works of Avicenna. It was felt that a critical edition and a translation of these manuscripts would be useful to medical historians. This is the object of the present work.
