Energy Regulation: Hydropower Impacts on Fish Should be Adequately Considered

The report discusses the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (Commission's) handling of fish and wildlife concerns in licensing and monitoring the operations of hydroelectric projects. Recommendations made by GAO are that the Commission Chairman ensure that fish and wildlife agencies have adequate time to respond to decisions and that hydroelectric projects' impacts on fish are adequately monitored.
