Training Workshop in Operations and Maintenance for Rural Potable Water Systems in Bolivia

In Spring, 1986 the Water and Sanitation for Health (WASH) Project conducted a 3-week operations and maintenance (O&M) workshop on rural potable water systems for Bolivia's Department of Enviromental Sanitation (DSA). The workshop provided 21 rural sanitation technicians with practical training in defining O&M problems and setting up O&M procedures in community systems. It also helped launch a new pilot program in O&M systems in two DSA departments. It is recommended that USAID/B continue to support development of O&M systems for DSA and provide commodities for the pilot O&M program and detailed work planning for O&M in pilot areas.
