摘要

The research was to complete development and to test the CAPP Terminal Device, Size 2 for adolescents, and to advance the design of the CAPP Lower Limb Prothesis for above-knee and higher level amputees. The work completed included construction of two investment casting molds and their parts as well as some machine parts. The study of the CAPP Lower Limb Prosthesis System was to extend previous work on the CAPP Foot. Clinical and gait laboratory studies showed that the foot eliminated instability at the moment of heel contact, but patients were not getting the anticipated benefits from the foot because they needed a compatible knee unit. The knee was designed in two forms; one was endoskeletal and combined the knee, shin, and foot in one unit with adjustments for shin and foot lengths. The second design was exoskeletal using lightweight materials. Designs are ready for prototype construction and further development and testing.
