India and the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics: A Study of Their Collaboration in Agricultural Research

The study focuses on the contribution of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to increasing the agricultural production and research capacity of the semi-arid tropics of India. It differs from the other country studies in that the impact of only one center, ICRISAT, in only one ecology of India, the semi-arid tropics, is considered. There are more than 20 research centers in India studying dryland agriculture, and approximately 1,300 researchers work on the all-India projects for sorghum, millets, pulses and oilseeds.
