Functional View on Constraints

It is shown that constraints can be seen functionally. This view includes all sorts of constraints, e.g., those with extensionally or intensionally given relations, constructive or filtering constraints, etc. Infinite domains (and hence infinite propagations) are admitted. Within the functional view on constraints, the authors prove properties of propagations in constraint networks concerning termination of propagations and uniqueness of terminal variable coverings.
