New Technology for Indium, Germanium and Gallium Recovery in an Electrolytic Zinc Plant

Theoretical considerations of the chemical reaction of In, Ge and Ga when leaching the cemented residue from some electrolytic zinc plants and their synergistic extraction mechanism are presented, together with investigation of various factors and synergistic extraction effects. A flowsheet for the recovery in an electrolytic zinc plant of In, Ge and Ga is given. Continuous experiments have shown that it is technically reliable, economically reasonable and novel in terms of a process to recover In, Ge and Ga from the zinc leach residue.
