Conducting Group Interviews in Developing Countries

The monograph describes the nature and mode of conducting group interviews in developing countries. It attempts to explain in nontechnical language their nature, types, uses, and limitations. It details the steps involved in conducting two types of group interviews with great potential for application in developing countries: focus group interviews and community interviews. Discussed are: group interviews and their primary uses and advantages; the general steps involved in planning studies based on group interviews; focus group interviews and the techniques for conducting them; the procedures for conducting community interviews; biases of interviewers and moderators and their adverse affects on the interview process; A brief discussion of suggested reading is presented.
