Cultural Resource Survey of the North Fort Polk Family Housing Area, Fort Polk, Vernon Parish, Louisiana

The report includes an archeological survey of the 1125-acre proposed North Fort Polk Family Housing Area, Fort Polk, Vernon Parish, Louisiana. Twenty localities of cultural remains were located within the project area. Eighteen were defined as archeological sites; the remaining two localities represented post-World War II military occupations. Three of the eighteen sites contained historic components; one represented an early twentieth century cemetery. Sixteen of the eighteen sites contained prehistoric components: one site contained a Caddoan period projectile point; the others contained no diagnostic artifacts.
