摘要

The fact sheet responds to a request for an inventory of innovative human resource management (HRM) practices in federal departments and major independent agencies. HRM is the management of people to accomplish agency missions. It includes the policies and activities of line managers directly involved in managing people and personnel specialists who support line managers. To develop the inventory, 71 federal organizations having 5,000 or more employees were surveyed. A questionnaire that asked agency officials to identify their HRM practices and to indicate those they considered innovative was used. These organizations employ about 2.3 million full-time, permanent civilian work force.
