Algorithms for Hermite Spline Interpolation

Spline interpolations of curves have long been an important topic in both numerical analysis and, more recently, in computer graphics. The term 'spline fit to a curve' derives from the draftsman's spline, a slender, flexible strip of wood (later plastic) held in position on the drafting table by weights called 'ducks'. Assuming a constant modulus of elasticity, it can be shown that the bending of a slender body can be mathematically represented by a series of individual cubic polynomial approximations between the given points of the form.
