摘要

These appendices are part of an historical paper concerning the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Total Diet Study (TDS). The paper, which is published in the Journal of the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (JAOAC), describes the purposes and evolution of the TDS from 1961 to 1987. The TDS provides FDA with baseline information on the levels of pesticide residues, contaminants, and nutrient elements in the U.S. food supply and in the diets of specific age-sex groups. The JAOAC paper discusses the food collections, sites of analyses, diets, food commodity groups, analytes, analytical methodologies, data transfer, publication of results, notable results, resources, and program advantages. The appendices contain listings of the TDS collection sites, foods, analytes and the TDS organization chart. These appendices are herein included to provide information that will be needed for an in-depth review of TDS results and for developing similar programs.
