Fire Response of Shrubs of Dry Forest Habitat Types in Montana and Idaho

摘要

The report summarizes shrub characteristics and fire response information for managers to use in writing fire prescriptions. The shrub component of a stand can be enhanced or depleted by prescribed fire if the manager understands the biology of the species. Knowing that ceanothus stores seed for long periods onsite and that heat treatment induces germination helps identify sites with potential for reestablishment. The paper serves to provide the manager with a ready source of published information on shrubs of dry habitat types.
