Catalogue of Nutrition Training Manuals for Health Professionals, Trainers, and Field Workers in Developing Countries: A Supplement

Since the International Nutrition Communication Service published its 'Nutrition Training Manual Catalogue' in 1982, many new texts as well as revised versions of old manuals have been developed to respond to advances in nutrition education. The supplement reviews approximately 70 of these new documents in order to provide educators with an updated guide for choosing training resources. Although the guide, like its predecessor, focuses on subjects typically addressed in nutrition education (e.g., breastfeeding, vitamin A deficiency), it includes a number of texts on training methodology and on food/nutrition program management. The manuals are classified according to the following subject categories: general nutrition; primary health care; nutrition communication and training; nutrition education in the school; nutrition in maternal child health; growth monitoring, nutritional assessment, and surveillance; nutrition and infection and special deficiencies; nutrition appropriate technology; and program management. Each citation includes a brief description and availability information.
