The striped dolphin, Stenella coeruleoalba, is widely distributed in the tropical, subtropical and temperate ocean waters of the world. The paper brings together published and unpublished distribution records available through 1986. The work is part of an effort to understand relationships between geographic populations in the Pacific. The effort, known as the 'Pacific Dolphin Project,' aims to evaluate relations between dolphin populations in the south and central regions with those in the east that are affected by tuna fisheries.
