USAID (United States Agency for International Development)/Jakarta's Strategic Use of Empirical Information

USAID/Jakarta has made significant progress in improving its use of empirical data to support basic mission operations and management decisions and to assist the government of Indonesia with program planning and policy development. Strengthening host government and local research capabilities for participating in data-related activities and using the resulting information are also an important objective of the information strategy. Moreover, information about potential solutions to Indonesia's development constraints is seen as an important product and integral part of the mission's program. The major factors that have contributed to USAID/Jakarta's progress in establishing a strategic approach to information use are reviewed.
