Use of Strong- and Weak-Base Anion-Exchange Resins in the Purification of Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide

A method is described for the removal of acid and sulphates from finely milled electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) by the use of a strong or weak-base anion-exchange resin in a one-step operation. The method has the advantage of eliminating the labor- and time-intensive steps that are required in the present process. The overall conclusion is that the new process results in a considerable saving in the consumption of wash water, operating time, and labor costs.
