The report reviews the Department of Energy's (DOE) funding for activities to comply with two environmental laws-the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA) and the Comprehensive Enviromental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA). RCRA and CERCLA are comprehensive waste management statutes, RCRA regulates hazardous waste from generation through its ultimate disposal, and CERCLA regulates the cleanup of inactive waste sites.
