摘要

Lake Cachuma, a water-supply reservoir in southern California, had routinely experienced severe hypolimnetic oxygen depletion during summer stratification. A diffused-air aeration system was installed near the dam outlet in May 1981, to alleviate the water quality problems arising from this anoxia. Surveys to monitor the limnological effects of aeration were begun in April 1980, and continued through September 1984. Results from four seasons of operation (1981-84) showed that aeration weakened, but did not completely destroy thermal stratification.
