摘要

The report presents information on the recent development and use of mathematical models in the motor vehicle policy process. Federal agencies involved in such model development and use include the U.S. Departments of Commerce, Energy, and Transportation and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Mathematical model development and use in the motor vehicle policy process appears to have decreased over the last decade. Recently developed models at the Department of Commerce include an automotive parts and accessories model, an industrial performance model, and an accounting model. Models of the Department of Energy include the Technology Cost Segment Model, a motor fuel consumption model, the Transportation Energy Demand Model, the Transportation Energy and Emissions Modeling System, and several models under development. The Department of Transportation is sponsoring the development of a vehicle miles of travel model. The Environmental Protection Agency is involved in the development and use of a wide range of models including MOBILE3, MOBILE3-Fuel Consumption Model, and the National Exposure Model.
