Unloaded specimens of carbon fiber composite materials have been exposed to ten aviation fluids, that is, oils, fuels, hydraulic fluids, antiicing fluids, cooling fluids and fireretarding agents at room temperature and in some cases at elevated temperatures. The effect was determined in terms of changes of the mechanical properties of the exposed specimens.
