The report represents the work of a three-year demonstration program to assist Indian enterprises on 29 reservations in the States of Minnesota, Montana, North and South Dakota to obtain Federal procurement contracts. The project was designed to: (1) identify Indian enterprises that had a potential for fulfilling Federal procurement contracts; (2) identify enterprises with a potential for development; (3) compile information on Federal policies; and, (4) provide assistance in the preparation of proposals. An effort was made to acquire management assistance contracts by contacting 90 major Defense Prime Contractors. The Center initiated or assisted with some 70 projects, some of which were research into Federal/DoD demand for a specific item or probability of an 8(a) set-aside for a product.
