Cultural Resources Management Plan: An Addendum to the Natural Resources Management Plan and Environmental Assessment for Point Reyes National Seashore, California

Within the boundaries of Point Reyes National Seashore (PORE) are a diversity of rich cultural resources. These resources are associated with the previous Native American inhabitants, early explorers, Mexican ranchos, American dairy ranches, aids-to-navigation operations, maritime commerce, early industries, World War II military activities, and recreational uses of the land. A historic resource study, A Civil History of Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Point Reyes National Seashore, was printed in 1980. The study provides extensive information on the major aspects of the area's history except for the military use of the land during World War II. The Historic Resource Study and the Cultural Resources Management Plan compliment each other. No attempt has been made in the plan to duplicate the information included in the Historic Resource Study.
