AEV Local Verification for Aviation, Precipitation, and Temperature Programs: AV, REL, TEM (September 1987 Revision)

These programs take advantage of the verification data available from the AFOS Era Verification (AEV) software (Ruth and Alex, 1987). The AEV software maintains a short file which contains verification data for the previous few days. The software was developed to permanently save the verification data in large local files and create verification scores based on the data. This allows weather forecasters to see verification scores in a familiar format according to criteria which are much more specific than the national summaries could ever provide. The version also verifies local aviation statistics against persistence since, in general, MOS forecasts are no longer available at the same times as the local FT forecasts are verified.
